Every growing place deserves a memory.
Working Botany Commons is being created to help communities facing food insecurity build locally controlled knowledge of their land, crops, weather, and growing practices—without charging the people who depend on it.
The goal is simple: make useful growing intelligence available where it can strengthen food security, resilience, and local independence.

Working Botany Commons will begin by supporting local organizations already trusted by growers: cooperatives, agricultural extension programs, schools, community gardens, and food-security groups. A photo and a place may be enough to begin; the record can become more useful as local observations and seasons accumulate.
This work is still at the concept stage. It is being designed alongside the core Working Botany platform so that free community deployments are part of the system from the beginning, rather than an afterthought.
